From the Dark
Orcs and half-orcs don’t exist in this world. But half-orc options are available via a new race called “corrupted.” The corrupted are actually humans. They are almost always the children of those who researched or experimented with the dark. Though the dark is strongest through the mists, its tendrils cover the world.
Through research into the dark, one can earn great power, but it comes with a price. On rare occasions, that price is paid by the next of kin. The corrupted have skin tones of light gray, yellow, green or coal. In all cases, the color is weak, as if they are covered in a thin coat of ash. Their teeth are too big and they have many of the classic half-orc features.
Corrupted that somehow make it to adulthood have two choices: die or go into the mist. Even the most skilled corrupted ranger is inevitably hunted and destroyed. Nobody wants to allow a “child of darkness” to live.
